이 노래는 영화 이집트 왕자(The Prince Of Egypt)주제곡이다.
영화 내용의 줄거리는 양의 피를 문설주에 바른 이스라엘 백성들은
아무런 사고를 당하지 않지만 양의 피를 바르지 않는 이집트 백성의
장자(글나든)와 처음 태어난 동물들은 하룻밤 사이에 모두 죽고만다.
이집트의 바라왕은 모세를 불러 "너희 백성들을 황야에 데리고가서
하나님께 제사를 지내고 다시 오너라" 라고 허락을 하게된다.

이스라엘 민족 가운데 단지파는 한민족(천손 민족)으로 가나안에서
동쪽으로 이동하여 오늘날 한반도에 자리잡게 된다. 그런데 한국에는
양이 없는고로 유월절 행사에 쓰이는 양의 피를 대신해서 양의 피 색깔과
비슷한 팥죽을 쑤어 문설주에 바르면서 조상들이 지켜오던 유월절 행사를
이어왔다. (이사할 때나, 동짓날에는 반드시 팥죽을 쑤어 문설주에 바른다).
